You’ve read the blogs, binged Marie Kondo’s series on Netflix and browsed every aisle in the Container Store. You are more than ready to get organized; you just don’t know where to start.
As my clients often discover, everything looks easier on TV, and it all makes sense online but trying to do it on their own is more challenging. If you can relate then it might be time to hire a professional. Here’s what you to expect.
A Judgment-Free Zone
If the thought of bringing someone into your messy space makes you panic, don’t worry. We’re pros. There’s nothing my team and I haven’t seen. We’re not here to judge or make you throw anything away. No good organizer will.
Supportive Role
The organizer you choose should be uplifting and supportive. You’re hiring someone to help you walk through the process. A professional organizer will give expert opinions and help you create a space that supports you, your family, and your lifestyle. You might declutter items in the process, but there’s no rule or even expectation, you’ll have to throw things away and start over from scratch.
Personalized Approach to Organization
I’d prefer to see the room as-is. You don’t need to try and straighten up or make things look neat. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve seen it all before and your house is a judgment-free zone.
I truly enjoy what I do and walking into a space for the first time is like seeing pieces of a puzzle I’m trying to solve. I am there to offer ways to make the space work for you. Think of me as your ticket to the best “before” and “after” pictures you could imagine.
Collaborative Organization
It’s not “my way or the highway.” A good organizer will work with you to understand how your brain works and how you move through the space.
I’ve walked into rooms that look unorganized, only to watch my client locate and find everything she needs within seconds. It doesn’t matter if I would have organized the room differently, it works for her. In that case, the room isn’t unorganized, it’s cluttered. Simply straightening and tidying up the room can improve the overall function of the space.

Depending on the size of your space and the scope of the project you could be working alongside an organizer for several hours a day. You want a good listener who is supportive and not critical or judgmental. If you like high energy, you might enjoy working with me.
At the end of the day, you should enjoy the person you hire. Transforming your space and organizing your home should be an exciting and fulfilling process, and the right organizer can help.
I’ve organized and managed projects for more than two decades. I’d love to hear about your project. Send an email to me at linda@unclutterednw.com and let’s talk about what’s on your mind.
