Photo Friday – Truck This!

I never thought this photo would belong in my collection. This isn’t just an 18-wheeler sitting in a parking lot. It’s the 18-wheeler I drove in the parking lot.

Truck This! | Uncluttered

From the time I was a little girl, I wanted to drive an 18-wheeler. I always thought they were cool and it made me smile when a truck driver would blow his horn after giving him the signal and moving your arm up and down. That little action brought me so much joy, I put “driving an 18-wheeler” on my Life List.

I never thought I’d be able to cross that item off the list, but then again, I didn’t think to ask for help to make it happen. As soon as I did, the wheels started turning.

In 2012, I attended a networking event. Attendees were asked to identify something they were looking for in the next 60 days. I was stumped. Then I announced that I would love to drive an 18-wheeler. To my surprise, a woman at my table offered to help. The following day, I reached out and in no time, I had a date to complete a Life List activity.

I shouldn’t have been surprised by the outcome. I am, however, surprised how often I forget to ask for help or ask for what I need.

The answer will always be “No” until I ask.

The same is true for you.

Make the ask and then be willing to receive.

Inspired Life Action:

Asking for what you need or want gives you an opportunity to hear “yes” and gives someone else the opportunity to help. Many people love to give of their time and talents, if they only knew how they could be of service. Make a list of five things you need help with. Identify a person who could be of assistance for each item and calendar a time to reach out this week.
