Most rooms in your house receive regular attention. It’s not like you’d go the entire year, or even an entire month, without cleaning your bathrooms. It’s one of the most frequented rooms in the house, but because of its smaller size, it doesn’t often get the same attention when it’s time to organize. There’s still plenty of space to maximize and make useful.
This month get inspired to clean the bathrooms.
You obviously clean the surfaces in your bathroom more than once a year, but this month I want you to take a deeper dive and clear out things you might overlook during your regular cleanings.
Check the expiration dates.
Medications and cosmetics have use-by dates. It comes down to what your comfort zone is in keeping them past expiration dates, but it’s still important to take a look and take inventory of the items under the sink and in bathroom drawers.
Utilize organizing trays.
I prefer thick, clear, plastic Interdesign organizers with a smooth interior because they help separate drawers into sections and don’t have additional grooves for makeup and toothpaste to gunk up. Use organizers to keep toothpaste, hair products, and makeup brushes separate. My goal is to keep the counter clear of additional items because I find it to be less overwhelming and more organized with things tucked away in drawers and under the sink, but it all comes down to your personal preference.
To make the most of the space under your sink, use a Lazy Susan, pullout wire trays, or drawers that stack.
You might not find all of those things in the bathroom section of a home improvement or organizing store. Some of the best under-the-counter organizing products are made for kitchens. An expanding step used for spices could also work for keeping bottles under the bathroom sink in place. Be creative. Stroll through the store first and find products that fit your needs regardless of the space or purpose they were originally created for.
Inspired Action:
If you’re holding on to makeup or beauty product samples for the right occasion, you might have accumulated a lot of product under your sink or in your bathroom drawers. Sort through your samples, throw out leaking or damaged packets. Organize the remaining samples in a space where you’ll be more likely to see them and use them in the coming weeks and months.
Inspired Thought:
Your beauty is real. Refrain from leaving items on the counter that cause you to question that statement.
